Menachem Bluming Muses: Mordechai’s Endangering us All!

If you read the story of the Megillah you will see that around the time of the original Purim Jews were living safely and securely and having a good life. The king said to bow down to his minister Haman and everyone followed. 

Only one Jew refused to follow orders! This incensed the King’s minister and he decided to put the entire Jewish people to death. 

Why did Mordechai have to rock the boat?!! Just bow! Big deal, move on.

Mordechai is a giant because he reminds us that by bowing you sacrifice your dignity and your basic Jewish values and you have nothing left as a Jewish People. You soon disintegrate and assimilate and you are lost.

It is because of Mordechai that me and you are here to celebrate another Purim!

Menachem Bluming Muses: Why Fast on Yom Kippur

In honor of Yom Kippur a Jewish newspaper interviewed me. Not that many read that paper :) so I figured that I would post the interview. Here goes: “So Rabbi Bluming when it comes to Yom Kippur most Jews think about how hungry they will be! Menachem Bluming Muses: Judaism’s Teaching on Reincarnation

I remember at school a friend failed his end of year exams and had to repeat a grade. He stayed back for a year and was no longer in our class, but rather the class below. We all moved on but he was held back. Some think reincarnation is like repeating a year at school. While some souls graduate to the next world after their life in this world, others are sent right back down to get things right in another life. That is not quite how Judaism teaches that it works.
